Maitland Steamfest 2011

Whilst sorting and searching through my collection of photos and videos, i decided to finally upload my Steamfest photos. Yes it may be a bit late, close to 6 months ago but I managed to take over 200 shots overall and have chosen some of the best to view.

A shot from the footbridge over Maitland Station
A great shot of Whitehaven loco's with an empty coal train, whilst 8215 brings a loaded train up through Maitland and 3526 waits in the background for a clear road
After travelling to Broadmeadow with 44211 leading and 3265 tailing I managed to grab this shot of the train preparing to start the Great train Race
Meeting Up with 3526 after coming out of Islington Junction and commencing the race
just starting to lose it at the Sandgate Flyover
Regaining the lead just outside of Maitland
After finishing the race 3265 leads the train off on a shuttle train and I photographed it at the end of the platform, whilst being cover in soot and ashes
Enjoy the photos!

Just a quick update

Hey fellow enthusiasts
just thought I'd add a comment that i failed to mention before is that I'm also currently planning out my train layout. I had decided to base it on A Ho scale version of Ourimbah, NSW during possibly the 60's or 70's. I have most of the rollingstock and locomotives required such 32 class, 620/720 railmotor, 44 class, 47 class, 49 class and just recently I bought a set of FS/BS carriages for a passenger services. I shall post more updates and photos as i commence through the construction and planning. Cheers

Rail and Sail to Wollongong

On Saturday, the 5th of November 2011, myself and fellow train buff Ben, followed locomotive 3526 as it ran down to Wollongong for the Rail and Sail event, operated by Heritage Express.
We had decided to mainly film the train at various locations down the South Coast line, but also take photos of the many stations along the way.
Our first stop was Heathcote, where we waited for the train for 1 and a half hours

The next stop on the list was Scarborough in which we had a spectacular ocean view. I also managed to snap an OSCAR set leaving towards Kiama

Eventually the train showed up and I quickly got a shot of it leaving Scarborough station

On the way back we stop in at Austinmer, where the train stopped to pick up some passengers and worked up the grade away from the station

Finally our last stop was at Loftus where i managed to get one photos of the train, coasting down from Waterfall and through the station
Enjoy the photos. I will try and upload the videos sometime soon but if they dont work you can check them out on my youtube acoount: http://www.youtube.com/user/greggles3801?feature=mhee

Starting this up

Hey. My name is Greg. Im 18 and just finished my HSC and I've only got one thing on my mind, Trains. Living and growing up in NSW, i had become very interested in the loco's and trains within this state. Now that I've got more freedom, I can have the opportunity to take photos and videos of trains in NSW, and the purpose of this blog is for such that reason. If you have any questions or concerns just fling us an e-mail. Cheers
